Cloud computing has completely changed the way we do IT management. In last decade or so, we have seen how disruptive cloud computing, as a technology, is and how it has changed the way we manage our resources.
On the other hand, we see that businesses are trying to control cost further and further in this competitive world. Therefore, it becomes imperative for businesses to move to cloud which has its own advantages of economies of scale.
But at the same time, we have also seen rise of security incidents in the form of hacking, compromises and data breaches. Therefore, cloud security has become top concerns for organizations who are moving to cloud. And it has also increased demand of more and more security professionals.
Now, when, it comes to cloud security, there is one certification that clearly stands out from the rest, and that is Certified Cloud Security professional certification or CCSP in short. It demonstrates highest level of cloud security expertise and is bought by two international bodies IS2 and CSA (Cloud Security Alliance).
In order to achieve this, you need to pass the CCSP exam and have relevant experience in cloud domain as ISC2 requirements. CCSP exam consist of 125 questions out of which 25 questions are for research purpose and 100 questions are CCSP test questions for marking. CCSP questions are asked from six domains covered under ISC2 CCSP exam syllabus. Domains are as follows.
Domain 1: Architectural Concepts and Design Requirements
Domain 2: Cloud Data Security
Domain 3: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Security
Domain 4: Cloud Application Security
Domain 5: Operations
Domain 6: Legal and Compliance
You need to get 700 on 1000 to pass the exam.
My observation is that CCSP questions are not very tough but it does need experience, knowledge and logic to answer them correctly. You will also have added advantage if you hold CISSP certification because there are lot of topics like Risk management and business continuity which carry over to CISSP and will help a lot in answering CCSP test questions.
Secondly, in case, you hold CISSP certification then your entire experience clause is waived off and once, you clear the CCSP exam, you will get certified immediately.
So, in a nutshell, with advent of cloud computing, security has taken a greater importance, and CCSP certification plays a very important in demonstrating the knowledge you have for cloud security.
